Tesco Magazine is designed for Tesco’s loyal women shoppers, covering food, fashion, beauty, celebrities and advice.

The site recently underwent a complete redesign, launching in May ‘08 to coincide with the refresh of the printed magazine.

Strategy

Like the magazine, the design of the site needed to be creative, fresh and fun.

For such a large site (over 100 new pages in the six weeks prior to launch, plus a large archive), usability and clear navigation is crucial. Considerable thought and planning went into the site structure, ensuring scalability with each new issue.

The Solution

The new Tesco Magazine Web site successfully reflects Tesco’s brand values, is user-friendly and engages the target audience.

  • The Home page is content-rich, without feeling cluttered. This is thanks to good use of space, colour and contrast
  • The colour-coded navigation compliments the Tesco Magazine brand values, and is followed through to lower pages, helping users to orient themselves when browsing the site
  • A good quality search engine helps readers find the content they want, fast
  • The site is search-optimised, driving additional traffic

The site is developed and maintained in partnership with Cedar Communications.
